The Silent Waltz (La Valse Muette, 48 min. 2008)
Frederic and Marcel are waiting for something....
|
Yves ( 74) and Yvonne (71) work and live on their small farm at the foot of the Pyrenees together with their son Louis (49). The four brothers of Yves also live at the farm. Three of them are deaf and mute. The fourth is handicapped after an accident. How does this remarkable family live together? What if a dispute arises? Is the sign-language sufficient to keep the peace?
During three years Margot Donkervoort followed her neighbouring family. The Silent Walz is the heartwarming portrait that emerged. The accordeon composition of Ingrid Obled leads us gently along the unusual lives of the seven family members. The film has been broadcasted in November on HollandDoc24.
